Such calmness

There’s a monkey on my roof
running from one end to the other
Shaking my ears to listen
and think

If I were that monkey
would I be happy?
Enjoying the view
shouting at my fellow mammals
letting them know about my existence
calling out to my mate and offspring
Would the wind ruffle my hair?
Would my tail keep perfect balance?
Would I jump into the next tree
grabbing the nearest branch
stare up at the moon
see the kite flying underneath
and realise

that the human below
wished to trade places
if only the universe
would let her?
