The Niger river is the 3rd largest river in Africa, crossing through 3 countries in the Sub Saharan Sahel. Along the river it brings life to the many people living around it. In Segou this is beautifully brought to light. Lizards everywhere feasting on all the mosquitoes, small but well kept gardens along the river bank, which are watered with calabashes every morning and night, trees towering meters high with roots adjusted to the changing water levels and many piroques for the fisherman or vendors coming to the regional market held every Monday in Segou.
