Driving out of Cairo takes a long time, the cities suburbs and patches of illegal red building blocks are endless. An increase of the many red buildings took place after the Revolution 2011 when the government control needed to focus on something else – order and stability. Therefore along the road from Cairo to Tanta you will nowadays not find many green patches of agriculture left along the Nile. Still some is left, an impression from a short day trip.
